Vance Street Apartments in the spring of 1986

Here’s a scene taken during construction of today’s Vance Street Apartments. The photo appeared on the March 8, 1986, Bluffton News front page.

Before construct began the village upgraded Vance Street with curbs and sidewalks.

The housing complex was built as a result of the village receiving a federal loan for construction.

The apartments were constructed on a property that was originally a cattle stock barn.
