From the April 14, 1949, Bluffton News, 75 years ago, a top of the front page head line reads: Blufftonites view total eclipse of full moon under perfect conditions.”

Hosts of Bluffton area residents had free entertainment Tuesday night as a total eclipse of the full moon went off on schedule under practically perfect conditions. The eclipse was said to have been the most perfect visible her in more than a century.
