Lima-built Berkshire steam locomotive 759
Nickel Plate Road locomotive 759 sets off from Lima toward Bluffton in this photo taken in 1969.
The locomotive pulled the Golden Spike Limited, and was headed on a trip across the United States. The steam locomotive stayed overnight in the former Lima Locomotive Works, where it was built.
Today another Berkshire locomotive, 765, is owned by the Ft. Wayne Railroad Historical Society. Click here to watch a video of NKP steam in action and for details about 2023 excursions pulled by this engine.
Thank You Fred, I just renewed my Membership for the Fort Wayne Rail Road Historical Society in New Haven where the 765 Locomotive is at. I am a Volunteer. The Videos were Great, Love seeing the Berkshires in all their Glory.
