The 1999-2000 Pirates were also NWC champs


Here’s the 1999-2000 Bluffton High School boys’ varsity basketball team.


This team won the Northwest Conference title and finished with a 19-4 record. The previous season Bluffton shared the NWC title with Paulding and Perry.


This team was 1 basket shy of advancing to the regional tournament, losing to Coldwater in the district finals.

During this season, Michael Kingsley passed Jack Fields’ 44-year most career points record. He also set records for most games played at 83. He had two games where he hit 7 treys, two games with 6 and four games with 5.


Kyle Lowry broke the Pirate career record for 2-point field goals at 340, breaking Steve Simon (1969-70) with 298.


Lowry scored 36 points and Kingsley 32 against Ft. Jennings, as Bluffton defeated the eventual Division IV state champions. It was the first time two Pirates scored over 30 points in one game.
