80 basketball seasons ago Bluffton's boys'
basketball team was the top Class B Ohio team
Eighty high school basketball seasons ago, the Bluffton Pirates were the team to beat in Class B (small schools) in Ohio.
The Pirates won the Western Buckeye League title and was unbeaten entering tournament play. Unfortunately, Fred Herrmann, the Pirate big center was drafted late in the season due to World War II.
He did not participate in tournament action, when the Pirates lost the only game of the season. Attached is the season summery from the 1944 Buccaneer.
